New Beginnings

January 8, 2024

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope that you have all enjoyed a two week break from the routines and the grind of the school year. I’m certain that it was a busy and bustling stretch of time, but with any luck, there was also a bit of rest, relaxation and fun for all family members.

As we embark upon a new year and a new term, I would like to take the opportunity to give some friendly Bondar reminders.

Winter weather is upon us, and it is important to ensure that children are properly dressed for all conditions, as engaging in play outdoors promotes physical activity and overall wellness. Students will play outside in all weather conditions, unless they are extreme, so come prepared. Providing an extra set of clean clothes in your child’s backpack, or at least some extra socks and mittens, is one way to make sure that your child stays comfortable throughout the school day. Thank you for your support with this.

We would also like to encourage that lunches and snacks be packed with nutritious, whole foods and that only water be sent to drink, whenever possible. Preparing healthy food that our children will actually eat can be a real challenge and then having that food come in at a reasonable cost, within the household budget, feels more difficult these days. Each of our families has its unique needs and challenges, and we all know what is best for our own children. Thank you for your consideration.

Parking continues to be a challenge at drop off and pick up times. We have one drive through lane (on the left), and one pick up/drop off lane (on the right). When coming into the parking lot, we ask that you pull as far forward as possible (right up to the Canadian flagpole) to allow as many cars as possible to drop their children off as well. Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the drop off lane. If you need to walk your child to their classroom, please find parking in the neighborhood, or walk to school. Please do not use staff parking (on the left-hand side of the lot), do not park in spots that are not parking spaces, and do not park in the Accessible Parking stalls unless you have a decal. Thank you so much for your cooperation.

Finally, thank you so much for your generosity with donations for BC Children’s Hospital at our Christmas Concert; your contributions came to over $240!

Thank you for all of your support, your kindness and your welcoming nature, Bondar. It continues to be a pleasure to work with your children and I look forward to continuing to get to know all of you and your families. 2024 is going to be an exciting year😊
