Measuring Up report released: Abbotsford Schools continue to improve

There is much to celebrate in Abbotsford as the School District remains a provincial leader in academics, arts and athletics, according to the recently released Measuring Up report. Among other things, the report highlights early learning progress, middle school achievements and graduation success.

“We are so very proud of the students, teachers, support staff, and senior leadership in our school district. Our students are successful because of the vision and commitment that we have made to providing a world-class, innovative and individualized educational experience for every student,” says Stan Petersen, Chair of the Abbotsford Board of Education. “The Measuring Up report is one of the important ways that the Board communicates with parents and the broader community about how we are doing. We want the public to know that our public education system is strong and that here in Abbotsford we continue to have high aspirations for future success.”

The Board’s annual update on student achievement was presented at the April 9th Board Meeting.

“Abbotsford continues to be a high-achieving District, not just in the lower mainland but across Canada,” noted Kevin Godden, Superintendent of Schools. “As we celebrate our success and look to the future, we are committed to strengthening our achievements and expanding opportunities for our students. It is our goal to provide the best possible education to every student in our care, and we look forward to working with parents and our community to reach this ambitious goal.”

The full Measuring Up report, and accompanying video, is available on the district’s website.
