Building Community and Staying Well
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we move deeper into the school year, it’s encouraging to see our routines taking shape and a sense of comfort settling in across both school and home life. Familiar faces bring reassurance, and it has been wonderful to witness new friendships forming and connections growing within our Bondar community. Our hope is that every student is beginning to feel at home here—finding their rhythm and experiencing that vital sense of belonging that defines our school.
One of the ways we love to celebrate students is by recognizing their birthdays. Each classroom has its own special way of marking these occasions, and while there’s no expectation to send treats, we understand that some families enjoy doing so. If you choose to bring something in, please ensure it’s a small, individually packaged item—one per student—for easy sharing. Please do not send pizza or cake. And don’t forget let your child’s teacher know beforehand. Thank you for helping us keep things smooth and inclusive!
As the weather shifts, we’re beginning to see the usual seasonal illnesses—colds and flu—circulating in our community. We kindly ask that families keep children home when they are feeling unwell to help prevent the spread of illness. If your child has a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, please ensure these symptoms have been gone for at least 24 hours before returning to school. For more detailed guidance, please refer to the Fraser Health Back to School letter, which outlines helpful health practices. Additionally, updated dental care resources are now available on the Abby Schools website—we encourage families to take a look.
This Sunday, October 5th marks World Teacher’s Day, and I want to take a moment to shine a light on the incredible educators here at Bondar. I’m continually inspired by their dedication, creativity, and care. Our teachers greet every child with warmth and positivity, adapting with grace to meet the diverse needs of their classrooms. Their commitment to students is evident in every smile, high five, and thoughtful interaction. We are so lucky to have such a phenomenal team—thank you, Bondar teachers!
October is a busy and exciting month at Bondar! To stay in the loop, please check out our school website. If you're using a mobile device, here’s a quick tip: tap the three-line menu in the top right corner, then follow this path—News Hub → Calendar → List of Events. This view makes it easier to see what’s coming up, and clicking on any event will take you to more details. We hope this helps make things a little more accessible 😊
Looking ahead to next week:
• Photo Day is Thursday, October 9th.
• On Friday, October 10th, we’ll be hosting the Bondar Pumpkin Patch, enjoying Hot Lunch, and celebrating with the Pumpkin Run.
We’re looking forward to all the fun and connection these events bring. Wishing you a beautiful, sunny fall weekend!
Ms. Lorieau
