Growing in Love and Learning

February 6, 2026

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

It’s hard to believe how quickly this school year continues to move—somehow we’ve already reached the halfway point of the second term! As we reflect on the past few months, we are so proud of the progress our students are making socially and academically. Their confidence, curiosity, and sense of belonging continue to grow, and we feel fortunate to support them on this journey each day.

February is often known as the month of love and kindness, and here at Bondar, that theme guides much of our learning right now. Our Sacred Teaching of the month is Love, and with Valentine’s Day on February 14th and Pink Shirt Day on February 25th, conversations about spreading warmth, compassion, and positivity are happening all across the school. We encourage families to continue these meaningful discussions at home—talk with your children about what makes a good friend, how they can bring joy to others, and ways to show love and kindness in their everyday actions. Even simple moments of quality time together as a family can model these values beautifully.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, classes may be engaging in small celebrations on Thursday, February 12th. Students are welcome to wear red, pink, or white if they would like to join in the spirit of the day. A friendly reminder that bringing Valentine’s cards or treats is completely optional. If your child would like to participate, please ensure all students in the class are included. Any treats must be small and individually wrapped to help us manage sharing safely and easily. Thank you for helping keep celebrations inclusive and joyful for everyone.

This month also brings our Parent Teacher Conferences on February 18th and 19th, with early dismissal at 11:58 a.m. on both days. We strongly encourage all families to book an appointment. Conferences are a valuable opportunity to deepen your connection with your child’s teacher, share insights from home, ask questions, and discuss both challenges and successes. They offer a meaningful moment to learn more about your child’s growth while celebrating their strengths. Booking information will be sent out early next week.

There are so many positives to focus on during this time of year. With rhythms and routines now well‑established, students and teachers are able to dive more deeply into their learning and take on increasingly rich, complex projects. Please continue to encourage your children to come to school with open minds and the courage to take risks in their learning. These moments of curiosity and bravery help them reach their full potential in every area of development.

We are honoured to be your partners in supporting the growth and well‑being of your children. Thank you for your ongoing trust and collaboration.
