A New Year

January 9, 2025

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope that you were all able to enjoy a fun-filled and restful holiday break with your families. The two-week break is an opportunity to recharge and to take the time to reconnect with our kids, friends and extended family. Hopefully families stayed healthy and were able to enjoy the time away from routines to the fullest😊

As we start a new year and a new term, here are some friendly Bondar reminders:

Winter weather is upon us, and it is important to ensure that children are properly dressed for all conditions, as engaging in play outdoors promotes physical activity and overall wellness. Students will play outside in all weather conditions, unless they are extreme, so please send your children to school prepared for all conditions. Providing an extra set of clean clothes in your child’s backpack, or at least some extra socks and mittens, is one way to make sure that your child stays comfortable throughout the school day. Thank you for your support with this.

We would also like to encourage lunches and snacks to be packed with nutritious, whole foods and that water only be sent to drink, whenever possible. Preparing healthy food that our children will actually eat can be a real challenge, and finding these foods at a reasonable price can be even more difficult. Each of our families has its unique needs and challenges, and we all know what is best for our own children. Thank you for your consideration.

We appreciate everyone’s participation in keeping our Parking Lot a safe place at drop off and pick up times. It is important that we all follow the same rules in the parking lot. We have one drive through lane (on the left), and one pick up/drop off lane (on the right). When coming into the parking lot, we ask that you pull as far forward as possible (right up to the Canadian flagpole) to allow as many cars as possible to drop off or pick up their children as well. DO NOT leave your vehicle unattended in the drop off lane. If you need to walk your child to their classroom, please find parking in the neighborhood, or walk to school. Please do not use staff parking (on the left-hand side of the lot), and do not park in the Accessible Parking stalls unless you have a decal. Thank you so much for your cooperation.

It is a priority for our staff to maintain open and clear communication with parents and caregivers. If you have a concern about your child, please contact your child’s classroom teacher. All teachers’ email addresses are available here. We are more than happy to work together to address your concerns and to support your child in their learning and social emotional growth at school.

Coming up the week of January 20th, we have Dance Week, where all students will have the chance to learn Hip Hop Dance and to participate in a performance at the end of the week with their class. Monday, January 20th is also the start of Kindergarten Registration. For families interested in the Nature Kindergarten Program, the District Program Lottery opens January 27th, and can be completed after the regular Kindergarten Registration package has been submitted. Literacy Week also begins January 27th, and we will be recognizing Lunar New Year on January 29th. We continue to learn about the Seven Sacred teachings, and the focus for the month of January is Honesty. Out Honesty Assembly will be Friday, January 31st at 11:30am. A busy month to start off Term 2!

Thank you for continuing to be a supportive, engaged and present parent community. I appreciate each and every one of you, and look forward to working together in 2025. I anticipate a positive and strong continuation of the school year.
