Term Two Reflections
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It’s hard to believe that we have already reached the end of our second term—this year truly seems to be flying by. Today, Learning Updates are being sent home, and we encourage you to take a few moments with your child to talk about their learning. Ask them about the highlights of their term, what they feel proud of, and the areas where they’ve noticed their own growth. Celebrate their successes, big and small, and let them know how proud you are of the ways they have persevered through challenges and worked hard to learn new (and sometimes difficult) things. These conversations make a meaningful difference for our learners.
Throughout the month of February, we focused on the Sacred Teaching of Love, as previously shared. While February has come to a close, this teaching remains at the heart of who we are as a community. We want to continue emphasizing the importance of kindness and caring among students, staff, and parents. Recently, we have noticed an increase in instances where unkind words or hurtful interactions have occurred between students. As the adults in their lives, our children look to us to model compassionate behaviour, including calm, respectful language and caring interactions with all staff. By working together and offering gentle, consistent reminders at home and at school, we can support students in building strong, positive relationships with the people around them.
A few procedural reminders as we move into spring:
- Morning entry: All students should wait at their outside classroom doors before the bell each morning and enter through those doors, not through the front office.
- Front office access: Students are not permitted to enter the office before the bell unless they require assistance. After the 8:28am bell, late students may come through the office to check in with Mrs. Dhaliwal and pick up a Late Slip.
- Parking lot safety: Parents may not leave their vehicle unattended in the parking lot. If you need to exit your car to support your child, please park on the street and walk down to the school.
- Visitor check‑in: All parents and visitors must check in at the front office before heading into the school.
- Walking to class: Students are expected to walk down to their classrooms independently. If your child requires support with this, please speak with Mrs. Dhaliwal—we are happy to help make arrangements where needed.
- Concerns or questions: If you have a concern about something happening at school, your first point of contact should always be your child’s classroom teacher. If further steps are needed, the teacher will connect with administration.
Thank you for respecting these routines and expectations. They help ensure fairness for all families and contribute to the safety and smooth functioning of our busy school community.
Registration for Summer Explorers opens today. If you’re interested in supporting your child’s learning over the summer months, we encourage you to check out the program here and consider registering.
As we prepare to head into Spring Break, we wish all of our families a restful, enjoyable, and energizing time together. It won’t be long before we’re back and heading into the final stretch of the school year!
